PMLD and complex-needs support can involve profound and multiple learning disabilities, physical disabilities, health needs and highly individual communication. The work is practical, attentive and usually delivered by a coordinated team.
Some roles include personal care, feeding support or mobility assistance; others do not. These duties must be stated clearly, risk assessed and supported by appropriate training, equipment and professional guidance.
Not every vacancy includes every responsibility. Read the live job description for the actual pupils, duties and setting.
Role fit
Many employers look for direct PMLD, complex-needs, disability, healthcare, care or specialist-school experience. The more intensive the duties, the more specific the required evidence is likely to be.
Strong candidates describe safe practical support, dignity, communication, teamwork and exact responsibilities rather than making broad claims about being comfortable with complex needs.
Requirements vary
Qualification requirements depend on the duties. Support posts do not share one universal certificate, but employers may require relevant care or education experience and role-specific training.
Moving and handling, personal care, first aid, feeding or health-related training must match the actual responsibilities. Candidates should never claim competence they have not been trained or assessed to perform.

PMLD means profound and multiple learning disabilities. Pupils may have significant learning, communication, physical, sensory or health needs requiring highly individual support.
Many do, but not all. The vacancy should explain the duties, and the employer must provide the relevant policy, training, equipment and safe working arrangements.
Specialist-school, disability, care, healthcare, communication, mobility or personal-care experience can be relevant when it matches the actual role.
Only roles involving relevant mobility support require it. Training must be appropriate to the setting and refreshed or assessed as the employer requires.
Some settings provide strong induction, but intensive roles often require relevant experience. Candidates should judge the duties honestly and apply only where their evidence is credible.
For schools and settings
Set out the pupils' communication, mobility, sensory, health and personal-care needs so Senovo can assess candidates against the specific practical responsibilities.
